What is a Lead Magnet / Freebie?
A freebie or lead magnet is a free offer for potential customers that’s intended to provide value. In exchange for the freebie, you collect the customer’s email address, allowing you to contact them in the future. A freebie might be an e-book, a checklist, a webinar, or any other type of product.
Creating a Freebie Product
A freebie is created just like a paid product. First, fill out all the required fields and any optional ones you want. Under Your Product, upload the file you want to offer as a freebie.
The only difference from a paid product is that in the product settings, you must activate both the Subscribe buyer to my marketing emails option and the This is a Lead Magnet option. This automatically sets the product price to €0 and ensures that the freebie is only delivered after the customer confirms their newsletter opt-in.
Delivery Process
Customers who sign up for your freebie and provide their email address will automatically be sent the opt-in email, unless they’ve already completed the opt-in in a previous interaction with your shop.
Tip: You can check the status of the opt-in at any time in the Customers section of the menu.
Once the opt-in is successfully confirmed, access to the freebie is sent out. If the customer is already on your email list, the freebie is sent immediately.
Note: Freebies will only be delivered if the opt-in is confirmed within 7 days of the initial email.
Using a Third-Party Email Marketing Tool
If you’re using a third-party provider for your email marketing, our system can’t track whether the customer has confirmed the opt-in. In that case, we can’t handle the delivery of the freebie for you.
