Email marketing is one of the key ways to stay in touch with your customers easily and effectively. With emails, you can market additional products to your existing customers, share information about new releases, or start your own newsletter.
Email marketing includes both campaigns, i.e., one-time messages to your customers, and automations, i.e., automated emails that are triggered by a specific event.

Email consent
In your settings under the Email tab, you can specify how users can sign up for your emails. Either buyers are automatically signed up for your emails, or they must check a box during the ordering process to confirm their subscription. If you want to display a checkbox, you can specify the text for the consent yourself.
In order for buyers to sign up for your emails, this option must be activated individually for each product. To do this, open your product, scroll to the settings, and check the box next to the option Subscribe buyers to my marketing emails.
In addition, you can also display a newsletter form on your shop page, which your visitors can use to sign up for your newsletter.
To activate the form, go to the menu item Shop > Design and scroll to the Subscribe form tab. Activate the option Display subscription form on shop page.
Email subscribers and opt-in
Before you can send emails, your customers must first sign up for your marketing emails and confirm their registration (double opt-in).
This email is sent automatically by us and contains a link that your customers can use to confirm their email address. Only after clicking on the link are customers counted as confirmed/active subscribers and can receive emails from you.
Confirmed subscribers are marked accordingly with Opt-in: Yes in the Customers menu item.
Data protection (GDPR)
Tentary allows you to send emails in compliance with data protection regulations. However, as there are different regulations governing email traffic around the world, individual settings can be customized for each account.
In Australia, the EU, the UK, and Canada, for example, many experts believe that you should display the checkbox for consenting to email subscriptions during the purchase process.
We have set two basic settings for all accounts. First, each new email subscriber must accept their subscription once by clicking on a confirmation link (double opt-in), and proof of the opt-in is stored. Second, a link to unsubscribe is automatically inserted below each email. These two features are required in most countries worldwide and are standard practice in email marketing.
Note: We do not provide legal advice. Please contact a lawyer if you have specific questions.
Email routing
You can decide whether you want to use Tentary's built-in email marketing feature or a third-party provider. To link a third-party provider to your Tentary account, you can use the Zapier integration.
If you use a third-party provider, our platform will no longer be able to send opt-in or marketing emails to your customers. As a result, the freebie or lead magnet feature will also be unavailable because the opt-in will be handled directly by the third-party provider in this case. All transaction-related messages, such as order confirmations or payment reminders, will of course continue to be sent by our system.
Email Campaigns
You can use email campaigns to send one-time messages to your email subscribers.
Email campaigns give you the flexibility to decide when and what to send to your subscribers. For example, you can share information about new product releases, send a periodic newsletter, or send other messages to stay in touch with your subscribers.
To create a campaign, go to the Emails menu item and then click on the New Campaign button.

Email Automations
With Email Automations, you are able to send multiple emails automatically at different times to certain buyers or groups of buyers.
To create an automation, open the Emails menu item and then click on the New Automation button.
