Have you ever wondered why payments in your Stripe account are marked as Incomplete? Don't worry, this is a normal part of the payment process with Stripe.
When do incomplete payments occur?
Incomplete payments occur when customers start the purchase process but do not complete it. Stripe or Tentary create a so-called Payment Intent as soon as a customer opens the checkout page. If the customer does not complete the purchase, this payment remains marked as incomplete.
Does this indicate a problem in the payment processing?
No, this is not an indication of a problem.
It is simply a way Stripe manages the payment process and indicates that the customer has left the purchase process before final confirmation.
Can these entries be avoided?
According to Stripe and their technical documentation, there is currently no way to avoid these entries. With the way Stripe's official payment integration is recommended, an incomplete payment is always created in advance. You can therefore simply ignore these entries.
What do Incomplete entries with an amount of €1 mean?
If you have order bumps enabled in your shop, it can happen that customers view a free product that can be combined with a paid order bump.
In such cases, the purchase may potentially become paid. Stripe therefore preloads the payment form in the background. To make this process run smoothly, Tentary sends a placeholder amount of €1 to Stripe. This payment remains marked as incomplete as long as the customer doesn’t complete the purchase.
These entries are purely technical and can be ignored — just like all other incomplete payments in your Stripe account.
